Résumé :
The dissemination of an ultra stable frequency reference between distant
users is required in many fields of research, such as time and frequency
metrology, fundamental and particle physics, astrophysics and geodesy.
Optical fiber links already demonstrated to be ideal candidates to
accomplish this task, being able to achieve a fractional frequency
instability of 10-19 after an averaging time of 105 seconds for a fiber
span of several hundreds of km.
In this talk we will first introduce the technological solutions that allow
to employ a standard telecommunication fiber link used for Internet data
traffic as an infrastructure capable of ultra stable frequency
dissemination, showing also the fundamental physical limits affecting their
performances, and some solutions utilized for partially overcome them.
After the introduction, the principal state-of-the-art experimental results
will be exposed and discussed, together with the possibility to add time
transfer capability to existing frequency transfer link.
The final part of the talk will be devoted to a survey of future
developments, such as the achievement of the REFIMEVE project (the
French *Metrological Fiber Network with European Vocation)* , and the direct comparison of new generation high stability atomic clocks (Syrte-PTB, Syrte-NPL).
